Science in the PCT Cartuja cartuja is developed mainly in research and development centers, but there is also a great diversity of scientific-technical facilities that work daily in scientific research and its dissemination. In this article we will mention some of the research centers, companies and institutions that are part of the scientific ecosystem of our Park, who collaborate continuously in search of innovation.
Research centers located in the PCT Cartuja
There are many research centers located in our Park, such as the Estación Biológica de Doñana, the Estación de Ecología Acuática Príncipe Alberto I de Mónaco, the Instituto de Microelectrónica de Sevilla, CABIMER (Centro Andaluz de Biología Molecular y Medicina Regenerativa), the Instituto Andaluz del Patrimonio Histórico, the Centro Nacional de Aceleradores, and the Centro Andaluz de Metrología, among others.
Special mention should be made to our Scientific Research Center Isla de la Cartuja (CicCartuja) which houses three entities that carry out research in different fields: the Instituto de Ciencia de los Materiales de Sevilla, the Instituto de Bioquímica Vegetal y Fotosíntesis, and the Instituto de Investigaciones Químicas.
At PCT Cartuja we also have a Joint Research Center or JRC of the European Commission, a Commission service specifically oriented to research. These centers play a key role in research and innovation in the EU, and the EU collaborates with its scientific and economic support to achieve the Europe 2020 priorities related to competitiveness, sustainability and major social challenges.
Apart from the public entities mentioned above, a large number of private companies also have research centers in their own headquarters, thus contributing to the creation of an innovation ecosystem in our Park.
