The Cartuja Science and Technology Park is the first international example of the reuse of a world exhibition (Expo’92) facility as a connection point between universities, science and business.

STP Cartuja has an essential competitive advantage: it is a Park within the city, very close to the city center and well connected to the airport and railway station. There are 56 buildings inherited from the Universal Exposition and 35 new buildings within the STP. It hosts 442 private companies, research, technology and training entities that generates 16,700 direct employment and 2,066 million € of economic activity.

The managing company, Parque Cientifico y Tecnologico Cartuja, S.A., is dependent on the Economy and Knowledge Regional Ministry from the Regional Government of Andalusia.

STP Cartuja are public policy instruments aimed at enhancing local economic development and technologically modernising. Encourage private investment in R&D&I by positioning themselves as an innovative centre, where cooperation is the basis for growth. It integrates the scientific, technical and social skills that facilitate knowledge creation, transmission, diffusion, measurement and management and its application to productive activities.

Human capital is the main asset of their companies and research centres.

Furthermore, STP Cartuja has an added advantage: its privileged location. It is a Park within the city, only a few minutes on foot far from the historic city center, and 20-minute way by car to the airport and the railway station.

At the heart of STP Cartuja are its companies, as well as its scientific and technological institutions. In addition to these are areas dedicated to culture, leisure and sports. Together they form a facility of excellence.

The Park is a true entrepreneurial, scientific and technological engine under continual development, with 442 companies, 16.700 jobs created and an economic activity of €2.066 million  (Figures relative to 2016)
